Southern Homes commissioned us to design and furnish a one-bedroom show home tailored specifically to the First-Time Buyer (FTB) market in Bethnal Green. The brief called for a scheme that would stand apart from the surrounding show homes, capture attention, and embody the bold branding and colour palette established by Southern Homes.Envisioned for a young, dynamic audience, the design approach carefully considered spatial flow and functionality while bringing a monochrome foundation to life through considered accents of yellow. The result is a space that feels contemporary and energetic, balancing relatability with aspiration, and thoughtfully aligned with the lifestyle and ambitions of the target demographic.
The design explores bold colour and geometric form, using strong angles and defined lines to create a memorable interior. Within the open-plan layout, a bespoke, space-saving dining solution sits alongside a carefully zoned living area, with black timber slats adding architectural interest and subtle division. A monochrome base is lifted with vibrant yellow accents across furniture and styling. In the bedroom, a bespoke headboard creates a striking focal point, softened with floral details. Inspired by Bethnal Green’s energy, the scheme feels confident and full of personality, balancing creativity with considered design, and extending into the sales suite for a cohesive customer journey.
Bold, saturated tones layered over a monochrome foundation give each room a distinct sense of character and identity. Inspired by the brand’s strapline, a “raw kind of happiness that makes Bethnal Green smile”, the design translates this ethos into a confident visual language, balancing strong monochromatic contrasts with uplifting touches of yellow and moments of softness. Sharp, architectural lines are offset with layered foliage and varied linear textures, subtly referencing the brand identity while adding depth and tactility to the space. The result is an interior that feels expressive and energetic, yet thoughtfully composed, capturing both the vibrancy of Bethnal Green and the spirit of the brand.
